The Friends of The Dowse is run by a group of volunteers from all walks of life.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FRIENDS

1. To support and promote the interests, objectives, activities and collections of The Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt, as a national centre for excellence in creativity, with a special focus on the decorative and applied arts, design and technology.

2. To act as an advocate for The Dowse Art Museum and to promote awareness of its commitment to creativity, including a special focus on decorative and applied arts and design, nationally and internationally.

3. To support and encourage the acquisition of all types of work and objects as may be acceptable to The Dowse Art Museum, by purchase bequest or otherwise.

4. To acquire funds and/or assets for all or any of the aforesaid purposes by gift, subscription, bequest or otherwise.

5. To co-operate with any individual, society, association, trust or corporation in carrying out any of the objectives of the Friends.
